Your Business Profile and website should tell the same truth about the business while doing different jobs: quick verification on one, deeper decisions on the other.

## Check core facts on the Business Profile and website first.

A profile helps people verify a location or service area and take a quick action. The website explains services, scope, examples, and the next decision in more depth. Neither should invent details to make the other look stronger.

Compare the business name, address when displayed, phone route, hours, and website link. A customer should not find one number on the profile and another on the location page without an explanation. If a location closes, moves, or changes hours, update the operational source and both public surfaces.

Google’s [Business Profile guidelines](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en) require accurate real-world representation and distinguish storefront from service-area businesses. A website cannot grant eligibility to an address that does not meet those rules. Treat the profile as a governed platform record, not a keyword field.

## Give the website more decision value.

The website can explain which services are available, how an inquiry is routed, what information the team needs, and when remote delivery makes sense. A location page for a real office can include access details, booking steps, and service differences. A service-area page can explain coverage and the process for confirming availability.

Do not copy a short profile description into a long page and call it local content. The website has room to answer actual customer questions. It should also provide a clear path to the relevant [local SEO service](https://scayverstaging.1wp.site/services/optimization/local-seo/) when the business needs help planning those pages.

## Avoid conflicting promises.

A profile may show “open” while a site says appointments are required. Those statements can both be true only if the copy explains what “open” means for a visitor. The profile might list a category that sounds broader than the services currently offered. Review the full experience from profile click to service page to contact form. Where might a customer assume something the business cannot deliver?

If different locations have different services, send each profile to a page that reflects that location rather than one general page that hides the distinction. Keep the routing easy to maintain.

## Assign ownership and a change trigger.

Someone must own updates when hours, phone numbers, addresses, services, or staff change. Keep a simple record of the source of truth for each field. A monthly check is useful, but the most important trigger is the actual business change. Update public information when it changes, not only at a scheduled SEO review.

Do not ask a copywriter to guess whether a profile is eligible, verified, or correctly configured. Confirm those facts with the business owner and the platform account.

## Test the customer route.

Search for the business as a new customer would, open the profile, follow its website link, and try to reach the intended service or location. Note every moment when the name, phone, hours, or offer seems to change. This test often finds a problem that a field-by-field comparison misses. Repeat it on a phone, where the customer may call directly from the profile before seeing the website.

## Compare the profile and its landing page side by side.

Open the profile and the page it links to side by side. Compare facts, services, customer action, and the promise of the first screen. Fix factual conflicts first. Then improve the website’s answers so a profile visitor can decide whether to contact you.
