Evaluate homepage design by the decisions it helps visitors make: what the business does, who it serves, and which page answers their next question.

## Test comprehension without explanation.

A polished first screen is not enough on its own. The homepage is an orientation point for several audiences, so it should set a clear direction for each important visitor.

Show the page to someone outside the project for a short look, then hide it. Ask what the company offers, whom it helps, and what action they would take next. Do not coach them. If they remember only the animation, color, or abstract headline, the design may be winning attention without communicating the offer.

Read the hero copy separately from the visuals. Does it make a specific claim the company can support? Does the supporting sentence explain what the business actually does? The design should give that message room to lead. A striking photograph cannot carry an offer that the copy never states.

## Follow the main visitor paths.

Try three tasks. First, find the most relevant service. Second, understand how the work proceeds. Third, reach the right inquiry path. Watch where a new visitor expects to click. If the homepage forces everyone into a single vague “learn more” route, its page relationships need work. If it presents every service equally, it may not help people choose.

The homepage should not reproduce every service page. It should explain the system and route to deeper answers. A concise category explanation can link to details. A process introduction can link to the full process. A proof cue should lead to material the business has permission to show.

## Inspect what happens beyond the first screen.

Check whether each section has a distinct communication job. Repeated feature grids can create length without moving the decision forward. A useful sequence might move from recognition to approach, then service choices, operating process, evidence, common concerns, and next action. The order should fit the business, not a template.

Use actual content, including long labels and realistic images. Review mobile and desktop. Can someone scan headings and still understand the story? Does a sticky element cover important text? Can a keyboard user reach and see every control? Does reduced motion preserve meaning? These questions turn aesthetic review into experience review.

## Define what the homepage should not do.

It should not promise results the business cannot verify. It should not make every CTA equally loud. It should not bury basic service information under a vague manifesto. It should not depend on customer logos or metrics that have not been approved. Clear process and specific scope can earn trust even before a case study is available.

What would a visitor need to ask your team after reading the homepage that the homepage should already have answered? Use those unanswered questions as revision notes.

## Move from opinion to action.

Record the failed task, the page element involved, and the proposed correction.
