Organize website service pages around how buyers describe the problem, with category pages that compare options and service pages that explain one offer in detail.

## Separate category choice from service detail.

A service directory should not mirror an internal org chart unless that chart also helps visitors choose. The relationship between category and service pages should be obvious in labels, links, and page copy.

A category page helps someone decide which kind of help fits their situation. It can explain the difference between design, development, marketing, copywriting, optimization, and care without repeating every detail page. A single-service page should answer what the work covers, what inputs are needed, how it connects to other work, what the customer receives, and what they should do next.

If every detail page begins with the same broad promise, the architecture may be too granular or the writing may be avoiding the actual scope. Try this test: remove the page title. Could a reader still tell which service the copy describes? If not, add the decisions and deliverables specific to that work or consider consolidation.

## Choose categories visitors can predict.

Take the full service list and ask a potential customer to sort a small sample. Notice where they hesitate. Does website redesign belong under design, development, or both? The site can choose one canonical home and link from the related category. It does not need duplicate pages under every plausible heading. Cross-links can show relationships without confusing route ownership.

Some services are outcomes rather than disciplines. A website project may involve copy, interface design, development, analytics, and maintenance. Explain that relationship on a solution or process page, then let the individual service pages retain precise scope. This lets buyers see both the complete system and the component they are researching.

## Give each page a distinct search and decision role.

Assign one primary question to each route. “What does web design include?” differs from “When should I redesign my site?” The first may belong to a service page. The second belongs to a decision guide. An industry page should address the industry’s operating context, not duplicate the same generic service paragraph with a new audience label.

Use descriptive internal links at the moment a related need arises. A page about web design can mention development when the visitor asks how approved designs become working pages. A page about copywriting can link to SEO work when the question becomes search visibility. Do not add a long directory of unrelated links merely to distribute keywords.

## Plan website service pages for additions and corrections.

Record the category, route, page purpose, content owner, and related services for every entry. Decide who updates shared facts such as process, pricing boundaries, and support details. If each writer copies those facts into dozens of files, inconsistencies will follow. A managed content model can reuse stable facts while allowing each page to explain its own decision.

Ask which service page a visitor should see after saying, “I know the problem but not the name of the service.” The category overview should help them find it without requiring your sales team to translate the menu.

## Move toward a clearer structure.

Use a [website page inventory](https://scayverstaging.1wp.site/resources/website-decisions/website-page-inventory/) to identify duplicate service routes, then plan the category and detail relationships. [Information architecture](https://scayverstaging.1wp.site/services/design/information-architecture/) can shape the hierarchy.
